How to Find Your Sweet Spot
Apr 15, 2023
Life is a balance between what we can control and what we cannot. I am learning to live between effort and surrender.
Ever feel guilty, ashamed, or disappointed when it comes to overindulging?
For me specifically, my diet has always been one of the things I struggle with.
Growing up, I watched my mom constantly dieting, working on and worrying about her body, and I picked up that same mentality. I grew up thinking my body was a one way ticket to acceptance and validation…
...and overcoming this has been an ongoing battle…
My brain is so used to dieting that when I don’t, it feels like I’m doing something wrong or I’m going to let myself down in some way... and when I get off track or overindulge, I beat myself up.
Yet, deprivation doesn’t feel good either!
If we have too much of something in our lives, whether it be food, social media, the news, work, certain people, etc… our bodies and brains reply with anxiety, overwhelm, or burnout…
And when we are feeling deprived, our bodies respond with a feeling of emptiness, or that a certain void needs to be filled.
Both overindulgence & deprivation are a negative vibration for expansion.
So what lies in the gap in between overindulge & deprivation?
Balance.
Using our intuition and awareness when we feel like we’ve had too much or not enough…it’s finding the 'sweet spot' in the in between.
Balance may look like:
-
Yes, I’m going to eat the ice cream, but I’m not going to down the entire carton
-
Yes, I’m going to enjoy my favorite reality show, but I’m not going to binge watch the entire season in one day…
-
Yes, I’m going to work extra hard in my business, but I’m not going to let it take away from spending quality time with my loved ones…
Keeping your vibration high is about finding the beauty in the balance, and having enough personal respect for yourself to align & follow through with your own boundaries.
Listen to your body… when you feel anxious, overwhelmed, unhappy, etc…it generally means something in your life is off balance.
Take note this week, and see if you can pinpoint your sweet spot.
Rooting for you!
