The Power of Now

Dec 14, 2022

As we reach the end of year, you may find yourself asking.... “where the heck did the time go?"

If you think about it, time is so interesting, right?

Time goes more quickly when two things happen:

You are in flow and doing something you truly love; and

When you are doing the same exact thing day in and day out

When you are doing something you love, you’re lost in passion, so time is the last thing on your mind, causing “time to fly.” This is a great feeling, because the result is fulfillment.

On the flip side, when you are doing the same thing every day and not much changes, your brain goes into autopilot mode, causing all the days to mesh together… also making it feel like time flies, but you probably aren't as fulfilled.

So what makes time slow down and leaves you feeling overall happier?

Becoming more present.

By becoming more aware, you will notice life becomes slower, more peaceful and more joyful. Try switching up your routine by taking a new way to work, listening to different music, adding in a positive podcast, or a quick morning workout. When you experience newness or change, you are forced to be more present. You may find you even start enjoying those not so fun things a little bit more.

If we’re constantly thinking about somewhere we are not, or someone else besides the person we are with, we are totally disengaged and may as well not even be there. Disengagement is the quickest way to suck the joy right out of your moments.

Your life is meant to be happy.

YOU are meant to be happy. And the cool thing is, you are always in control.

Just by bringing awareness into your day-to-day, injecting positives (even in a negative situation) and making some slight changes, you can slow down time & make your life more enjoyable. Try it with your loved ones this holiday season.

Savor each moment…
Each gingerbread cookie.
Each hug.
Each conversation.
Each emotion.

The holiday season is so special. Allow yourself to be present, melt into the magic, and you may find you have the best Christmas yet 🎄💞
